With over 20 years experience, R James Decorators are specialists in residential and commercial painting and decorating and property maintenance.
We're based between Swindon and Newbury and are happy to work on jobs in Wiltshire, West Berkshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. We've recently worked in Didcot, Devizes, Great Bedwyn, Oxford, Newbury, Swindon and Cirencester. Over the years we've worked on a wide range of painting and decorating projects including offices, newly built apartments and listed buildings.
All work is carried out by Ricky, with other skilled and professional tradespeople working alongside him when necessary.
Ricky's experience and knowledge enables him to make recommendations for your design scheme, and complete all elements of the project, including painting walls, ceilings and woodwork, stripping and hanging wallpaper.

ABOUT US
We take great pride in our work and we aim to exceed our customer's expectations.
All work will be carried out in accordance with the recommendations of British standard code of practice CP231 “Painting in buildings” and the technical application data from Dulux.
We are meticulous with regards to the preparation before starting any work and once we have finished the painting and decorating we will ensure that all mess will be cleaned up and your property will be left as it was when we entered. All floors and furniture will be sheeted and protected to avoid any damage.

INTERIOR HOUSE PAINTING
One of the most important parts of the painting and decorating process is thorough preparation and Ricky is fastidious about preparing his work areas before starting any painting.
He always ensures that he covers furniture with dust sheets and he uses polythene sheeting to protect carpets and floor tiles. He then checks the walls and removes any nails or wall fixings, and then he fills any holes or minor cracks with a multi-purpose filler and once the filler is dry he sands the surface to ensure a smooth finish. He uses a decorators' caulk to fill in any gaps between the skirting boards and walls, and along the side of window frames.
He protects light fittings, skirting boards, window and door frames with masking tape and he unscrews light switches and sockets and moves them slightly away from the wall so that he can paint underneath. Ricky begins by ‘cutting in’ which means that he carefully paints around the edges of the wall and fixtures and fittings with a brush and then he paints the main body of the walls and ceilings with a roller giving an even and professional finish.
Ricky always applies a minimum of two coats and he uses quality paints such as Dulux Trade and Johnstones.
